Hello, everyone.
This is the first time I've officially introduced myself in any MUGEN forum, really, so forgive me if I'm not exactly sure what to say. Let me just start simple.
As you can imply by my username, my name is Oscar Lin. However, I would find it easier to be referred to by my MUGEN alias: Kino Kisu.
MUGEN was always a hobby of mine, and I first got into the MUGEN scene around 2010, very soon after KOFM's release. I always enjoyed KOF, so seeing fangames with brand new characters yet having a familiar feel just sounded right to me. I eventually found many full games, there are some pretty old ones that I still remember (like that one KOF XI one with a CRAZY Iori edit called "Shin Iori" or something like that, anyone even remember that?).
I can't say I've really gotten into the full MUGEN scene until 2015-2016, where I discovered the source engine and how customizable it was. It was around this time that I was fully drawn into MUGEN, but not exactly the community aspect.
That changed around 2018, where I met a certain individual on YouTube who would change my course in MUGEN, for better or worse. Through a simple interaction, I went from a lurker with no identity to an individual who would have several connections to very predominant authors in the KOF MUGEN community. A simple combo contest hosted on a Discord server had completely changed my identity in MUGEN, and I don't regret a second of it, regardless of the drama I've been through.
Never in my wildest dreams have I thought I would get to this point in the MUGEN community. I may not be extremely knowledgeable outside of the KOF MUGEN scene, but I am trying to broaden my scope. I'm learning how to code characters, co-operating with some talented individuals to assist me in doing my best. Is it difficult? Depends, but it makes the results so much more satisfying.
I may not be an encyclopedia of MUGEN knowledge, and I am in no way as experienced as the very talented individuals who founded the community of MUGEN, but I will try my damn best to be as reliable as possible. If you have any questions about the KOF MUGEN community, I am always more than happy to answer.
Oh, and please do not bother me about contacting the authors I have connections with, cause the answer will most likely be a no.
I look forward to working with all of you,
Kino Kisu.
