According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2023 is the year of the "Water" Rabbit, starting officially from January 22nd, 2023, ending on February 9th, 2024.
The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture.
2023 is predicted to be a year of hope.
Most people know the basics: The 12-year Chinese zodiac calendar cycle is represented by 12 different animals – the Chinese zodiac signs.
Your zodiac animal is determined by your year of birth.
Start Date End Date Element
29 January 1903 - 15 February 1904 Water Rabbit
14 February 1915 - 3 February 1916 Wood Rabbit
2 February 1927 - 22 January 1928 Fire Rabbit
19 February 1939 - 7 February 1940 Earth Rabbit
6 February 1951 - 26 January 1952 Metal Rabbit
25 January 1963 - 12 February 1964 Water Rabbit
11 February 1975 - 30 January 1976 Wood Rabbit
29 January 1987 - 16 February 1988 Fire Rabbit
16 February 1999 - 4 February 2000 Earth Rabbit
3 February 2011 - 22 January 2012 Metal Rabbi
But that’s only the start. According to Ancient chinese astrology and divination, a year isn’t just categorized by its animal.
There’s also a complex cycle made up of 10 heavenly stems and 12 earthly branches.
Every year, a heavenly stem (one of five elements, which fall into the yin or yang category) is paired with an earthly branch
(one of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals).
Gui Mao is the 40th element of the cycle – the Heavenly Stem “Gui” represents water, whereas the earthly branch “Mao” represents Rabbit.
That makes 2023 the Year of the Water Rabbit.
According to Chinese Geomancy practiced in Hong Kong, Gui Mao Rabbit Year is quite a special year – when all the elements in a year are yin.
It’s also uncommon to have the combination of water and rabbit. The rabbit represents wood. Water nurtures wood.
Industries, hobbies and jobs with wood as their main element – like books, comics, publishing, agriculture, carving and furniture – will benefit.
Fire industries, on the other hand, including digital and technology businesses, may suffer as fire is afraid of Water!!
It may be no coincidence that worldwide, we are seeing a dramatic change in weather conditions, including mass flooding, global recession, and nature claiming back what rightfully belongs to her....
The Year of Water Rabbit is going to be a gentler year.
We’ll have time to take a breather.
We’ve been in the tunnel for the last few years, and the light is getting bigger now.
And with that said we wish you all another prosperous new year, and look forward to seeing your Mugen creations come to fruition!
