As most veteran active forum members here are aware,
since Mid 2015 the "Lurker pandemic"
became a blanket term used by many traditional message board sites to refer to the increasing number of forum user accounts
that register and fail to participate, contribute or interact socially with their respective communities.
Over 350 Inactive/lurker accounts were deleted from the Newagemugen database
between January 2022- March 2022.

Each mugen community/forum/discord has their own opinion & standpoint on lurker account management.
The Newagemugen philosophy regarding lurking is that it is the single biggest threat to the longevity and prosperity of the Mugen community.
Lurking not only does not contribute to the mugen community or promote forum activity in any way whatsoever,
it promotes an antisocial environment, a "warez" culture of "smash & grab",
and furthermore, weakens the foundations formed by veteran mugen creators that made mugen what it is today.

The mugen community was not forged in private chat rooms or discord servers.
The most talented creators still active today, are by majority, primarily message board and forum users exclusively.
The Mugen community backbone always has been, and always will be forums and message board sites.

Newagemugen purged ATLEAST 50 Inactive/lurker accounts EVERY month
In summary, Newagemugen would like to advise that as of March 2022 we will be further increasing our anti-lurking measures
and forum account deletion policies in an effort to reduce this increase and further promote forum activity.
This will include a more thorough registration process, automated email reminders/warnings after a specific time period, IP monitoring for duplicate accounts, an increased spam filter/temporary email address blocker/firewall via our paid admin services,
and various other methods both automated and manual.
