I'm at my wits end here and i seriously need some help. I can't get my select slots to line up right with the select Icons. I have a design that up diagonally to the left which looks like so:
Here's what I'm trying to do:
I want the character icons to be apart part of the screen so no one will have to install those portraits. Then I can hide the standard portraits then just adjust roster position to fit over the icons with the characters in the right places.
But I can't seem to make the boxes fit into my select icons so it like this:
Also I can't get the select cursor to move over the boxes, it skips some spots or refuses to go a certain direction all together. Is there something I'm not doing?, because I know I've seen other screenpacks do this same effect. I remember SophieX's CVS2 screenpack had a cursor with "oddly shaped portaits"
Any and all forms of suggestions, tips and help is welcome.

Oh Damn i completely forgot how to layer my sprites so that i can have multiple things for a single screen. I'm editing a pre-existing screenpack since that was the only way i could get FFc to read an SFf file. so here's what i got so far am I doing this right?

If you're talking about the select boxes and system codes themselves, they are coded in layer numbers. Whereas, if you're talking about flashy background (behind the ports and what not) animation, it's similar to a stage to where it appears on the screenpack while inserted below all the code in order.

Hey guys when making custom portraits for a character you typically edit the 9000,1 sprite right. and the 9000,2 one is for lifebars? Just trying to double check.

Typically that sort of thing is for custom lifebars.
From a 1.0 standpoint you'll need another set for the win port, also if the lifebars are custom, the small port and the large portrait.
The numbers used in FF for these sets such as 9000,2 and 9000,1 etc, vary between creations.

I actually never messed with positioning in that fashion. But, I personally would use the offset.

Well there are several formulas for this transaction. Try this one first, find a screen pack that already have the cells space apart. Then just play around with the cell sizes, I posted a small example below.
Let me know whether are not, that help out for starters.

its still has the order all f*cked up. Its supposed to be Ryu and Sol on Opposite sides of the same row. But its got Ryu on his own and then Sol and Ken on the same row together.

I would like to help but, I'm trying to get nexus out before this year is finish. Did you find a sp that had something close to what you are trying to do. If you did just study the code a bit more, in the mean time. I will see what else I can muster up for yah!

I was looking but the closet i got was either the Capcom v SNK Chaos SP or a CVSM SP which has the characters separated top from bottom rather than left from right. I'm still playing with it.

Right on but, you are exactly leading into the right direction. Just keep playing around with the codes. Also, with play with the pixels of the sprites for the port box's. Start with one area at a time to get the desired look you want. It's a pain in the butt, still it's possible to render. Good luck my friend.

I Got It! i just had to play with the number of columns not the rows, also helped that i turned on the randome select icons to help identify the issue. It was mainly a coding problem.
