Started watching Madoka because people said I should, 5 episodes in and I can't really give a shit. The only character I like is Homura because I know her motives and intentions are good and to keep people safe. The other characters just come off as dumb bitches and I really dislike them, I was kind of glad when Mami died to be honest, I despised her character ._.
I might finish it to give it a chance but eh I don't see the big deal.

Okay here's some early Steins;Gate criticism for Gen. ALLONS-Y!
The first few episodes are kinda confusing but everything smooths out quite nicely as the anime makes progress. There are a few mysterious characters which are interesting; they give you clues about their backgrounds but only feed you bits info bit by bit. The main male protagonist is unique (IMO), he's a bit [too] wacky, he gets serious when it's needed, but he's interesting nevertheless. The main female protagonist is quite tsundere and annoying at time but she's also quite interesting. There's plenty of funny parts as well as serious ones, it has a peculiar yet attention catching mix of the two.
The series is very slow in the beginning episodes, but it starts picking up progress MUCH faster as the episodes go by and it's at a very nice pace right now for me (I was somewhere around episode 9 or 10).
There's 2 cons I see so far IMO.
1. The theme is pretty sci-fi and aimed for older teens so if you're expecting shonen, it's nothing close.
2. Sometimes I feel like screaming at my monitor saying "HURRY UP AND MAKE SOME SENSE ALREADY" but that usually gets fixed by the next episode.
So far its an interesting change of genre for me. Though I don't think you should start watching it until I finish so I can

OoOOOOOH! Part 2 of 3!~ of my Steins;Gate review!
The story literally gets a kick up in the ass and the pace goes blitz around episode 12. It's VERY interesting now to see what the main protagonist does. More twists are revealed and mysteries solved. The anime got like, a lot more serious now and the male protagonist is under a lot of stress.
By the way it's going, it just gets more and more interesting. They now face a big solution to fix all the shit they accidentally messed up. Ep 1-12 was okay but 12 onwards is a big pickup!
Apart from that, we see some more character development and a few weird scenes regarding a gender change
I'm on episode 17 or 18 now. oooh yes this is getting really good now. The tone has also gotten quite darker. There's still some funny parts, but overall it's much more serious.

I'll try making it detailed as possible without any spoilers.
I don't really agree with this website's top 100, but it seems alright.
Steins;Gate, to me honest surprise, is actually second highest rated

- Get your body ready :
- The Plot: Not going to explain it, but I'll tell you what's good about it. It's very solid. There's funny stuff every now and then but the story doesn't go off track and that's what added to the overall feel of the anime. Basically, it's a sci-fi anime about time traveling, but don't let that intimidate you if you're thinking that it's going to be complicated: It's not! It's very well explained that shown without much confusion at all. If the beginning of the story isn't making much sense, don't stop watching because they explain everything at the appropriate time.
The story starts out quite slow and a bit all over the place, but after a few episodes it remains very straightforward the pace picks up dramatically around Episode 12 and again later on.
The Graphics: Very nice graphics, since I'm watching it in 1080p (I'll send you the link). Can't expect stuff like Psycho-Pass or 5cm per second, but quite clear and explicit :)
The feels: by this I mean character development and how my gut felt watching this. In the beginning I was like "GET ON WITH IT" but then one third of the way through I was like "DAYUM, THIS IS GETTING REALLY GOOD" then around two thirds through it was like "Woah, man this is well written," and around the last few episodes I felt a mixture of sadness but satisfaction since the ending was great :)
The characters develop slowly but they develop very nicely. The main antagonist may appear retarded or even paranoid at times but that will be explained in the end why he randomly acts like that sometimes, but after the pace gets taken up a few notches, he gets really really serious and very depressed around the end. I can almost guarantee that at the last episode you will be able to see a big difference between his personality in episode 1. All the other characters develop nicely as well, albeit at different rates, with the main female protagonist taking some time to be stop being irritated all the time. Everyone's all cool in the end though

So overall I'd have to say that Steins;Gate is VERY solid in terms of story and character development. There's a lot of funny stuff as well though, but it doesn't interfere with the serious parts. You'll get some twists, some "oh dayum nigga" and some "NIGGUH PLEASE" feelings all around. It's not exactly MIND BLOWING but it's very nice and well written.
I would say to definitely watch it, and DO NOT STOP AFTER A FEW EPISODES! Watch the whole thing I can almost guarantee that you will not go unsatisfied.
